Majeed: Have you been in the school library recently, Jamal?

Jamal: No, why?

Majeed: Some new books have arrived in the English section.

Jamal: What kind are they?

Majeed: Mostly novels.
The stories have been rewritten in easy English
so that we can understand them.
There are some biographies, too.
There's one on William Shakespeare and
another about Charles Dickens.

Jamal: What did they do?

Majeed: Shakespeare wrote poems and plays.
He lived in England about four hundred years ago,
in the sixteenth century. He is one of the most famous
writer in English literature.

Jamal: How about Dickens?
Did he write plays, too?

Majeed: No, he didn't.
He wrote novels. He lived in the nineteenth century.
The characters in his stories seem to be real people.
But they are all fictional.

Jamal: What's the difference between fiction and biography?

Majeed: Fiction means the author makes up the stories and characters.
A biography is a true story. It contains facts
about the life of a person who maybe alive or dead.

Jamal: So what are autobiographies?

Majeed: They are stories written
by people about their own lives.
